My Quest

I am on a quest of my own
To find some answers… to things unknown….
Like… why do leaves have different shapes
….and how are monkeys….different from apes ?
Why are flowers in so many hues
       Some red…some yellow….and why some blues ?
Why does the bougainvillea spread like fire
   And why does an ivy….climb a church spire ?
Why do branches spread from trees
        ….and why do these branches have million leaves ?
Why does the water take shape of the cup
       And why does steam….always rise up ?
Why does the earth go round the sun
       Is there a purpose….or is it just for fun ?
Why do humans love and hate
      Why do some insects….kill their mate ?
Is there a plan….or random fate ?

Many a doctrine is like a window pane….we see the truth through it….but it divides us from truth !

we see the truth through a doctrine or an ism  ? it is yet debatable….

…but even if we see….or  are meant to see…or once used to see….

….sadly the isms divide us from the truth…

……bottom line….

one has to devise an ism less ness…..that point of view ….that looks at things straight…..

…..lets not celebrate the isms….if we want to celebrate….lets celebrate life !!!

The moot question is:

Do we need a mentor ….or a guru that requires an ego-massage ?

Andrew Cohen has this to say…..(my version):

Till such time that human beings do not evolve to an extent that they  themselves feel the necessity of ‘higher truth’….we need spiritual gurus

We have become so arrogant that we do not recognise hierarchy….and dont want a guru to be given a superior status…

 

  Questions that arise :

      Firstly……we need a mentor or a guide or a ‘guru’ who thinks he is superior ?     Like in all spheres of learning….a teacher is respected….so he should be…. in spirituality as well….where is the need for ‘worship’ ?

      Secondly, how & when  can it be said ….that we have evolved and we do not need a guru anymore ? What is the measuring rod ? Who has got it ? …and who shall measure ?

  ….. I think this argument  that we need to evolve to a degree….then we can resort to self-help….is awesome and  convincing in the first instance….

…but behind the facade of a  superior-intellectual- logic , this argument betrays a certain  bias ……towards those who have it….and those who are ’spiritual have-nots’ !

My idea is not to take issues with Andrew Cohen….or any other evolved soul….this question is from a seeker  of truth !

Let me quote something related to FREETHINKING from WIKIPEDIA…..

“Freethought is a philosophical viewpoint that holds that beliefs should be formed on the basis of science and logic and should not be influenced by emotion, authority, tradition, or any dogma. The cognitive application of freethought is known as freethinking, and practitioners of freethought are known as freethinkers.

Please note the last few lines….

Since Free Thinkers are normally at logger heads with :

DOGMA….POPULAR BELIEF SYSTEM….CONVENTIONAL WISDOM…. TRADITION…..POPULAR CULTURE…..

…where do they stand in the society… it is any body’s guess !!!

Free Thinking may be an exercise that has its genesis in the innate freedom of a human….. by a cruel fallacy of semantics….it is not something that is FREE…..it comes with  a very heavy price !

Let us make a little effort….to reduce its price !!!

……and increase its value !!!

It has been a month of blogging !And it has been great fun !!!

I have made a few friends….want to meet a lot more on the WWW…

I have been talking on redefining and creativity……I think I shall round off the month with a few lines on Ism Less ness….

Isms are belief systems…doctrines…

So how can Isms be wrong …..!

But look around yourself….These Belief systems are creating a havoc…. doing more harm than good…..

…..Purists wont agree ….but Isms can be done away with…. ONLY and  and ONLY IF….

…we start believing in HUMAN NESS !!!
